JD(U), Congress at odds over Nitish party support to AAP in Delhi

"JD(U) will support Aam Admi Party of Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi," state JD(U) President Basistha Narayan Singh told reporters.

When asked that Congress was protesting this, Singh said JD(U) had ties with the Congress in Bihar only and outside the state they were free to chart a different course.      

Meanwhile, JD(U) National General Secretary K C Tyagi said there was a proposal to extend support to AAP in Delhi, but a decision had not yet been taken.

"Samajwadi Party and RJD have fielded candidates in Delhi and in such a condition JD(U) canvassing for AAP could not do better...we have kept the decision to support AAP on hold," Tyagi said.

Bihar JD(U) chief assertions on AAP came in the background of Congress in Bihar raising protest on it.

AICC member and chief spokesman of state Congress Prem Chandra Mishra had recently expressed unhappiness over Nitish Kumar campaigning for Kejriwal.

Mishra, in a statement on January 24, had reminded JD(U) that his party was extending support to Kumar's party ministry in Bihar.

"Earlier also Nitish Kumar extended support to INLD of imprisoned Om Prakash Chautala against Congress and now if he does the same in Delhi it will hurt the feeling of Congressmen," Mishra said in his statement.

Sushil Kumar Modi counters Nitish's 'conspiracy' charge in Azizpur arson

"Kumar has a habit of sniffing conspiracy in everything ...if there indeed was conspiracy behind Azizpur arson incident, then the state government must expose those people involved in it," he told reporters here.

Attacking the former chief minister for implicitly pointing to the BJP's involvement in arson incident in Azizpur village last week in which four persons were killed, Modi said that instead of indulging in blame game the state government should get the incident thoroughly probed and bring the culprits to book.
  
Taking potshot at the senior JD(U) leader for visiting Azizpur village, the former deputy chief minister said that it was the lone instance during nearly decade-long rule by his party that he had visited any strife-torn village and that too out of compulsion as his new-found ally and the RJD supremo Lalu Prasad had paid visit to that village a day earlier.

Modi also took a dig at the former chief minister's proposed visit to the national capital to campaign for the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in Delhi Assembly polls and said that Kumar's reported decision pointed to division in the Janata Parivar splinter groups amid buzz over merger as the RJD supremo had committed to campaign for the Congress.
  
Exuding confidence that the campaigning against BJP's rivals by the senior JD(U) leader and the RJD supremo will have no bearing on the outcome in the Delhi assembly polls, he claimed that former IPS officer Kiran Bedi-led BJP would sweep the Assembly polls and form government in Delhi.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Madan Mohan Malviya to be conferred with Bharat Ratna

The Centre's announcement came ahead of Vajpayee's birthday, who will turns 90 on Thursday and 153rd birth anniversary of Malviya.

"The President has been pleased to award Bharat Ratna to Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya (posthumously) and to Atal Bihari Vajpayee," a press communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

Vajpayee, who was Prime Minister from 1998 to 2004, and has faded from public life due to age-related illness, is lauded as a statesman and has been often described as the moderate face of BJP.

Vajpayee has been credited with taking bold initiatives, notable being the attempt to bridge Indo-Pak differences.

India's longest serving Prime Minister outside of Congress party, Vajpayee's detractors called him the "mask" of RSS but still always had good words for him.

बिहार के पूर्व उपमुख्यमंत्री और भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेता सुशील कुमार मोदी ने इसबात की जानकारी देते हुए कहा कि नरेंद्र मोदी ने पटना में विस्फोटों में मारे गए लोगों के परिजनों के प्रति संवेदना व्यक्त की है और वे पीड़ित परिजनों से मिलने विशेष हेलीकॉप्टर से पटना आएंगे।

गौरतलब है कि गत रविवार को हुंकार रैली को प्रधानमंत्री पद के भाजपा के उम्मीदवार नरेंद्र मोदी द्वारा संबोधित किए जाने से पूर्व हुए विस्फोटों में छह लोगों की मौत हो गई थी और 83 अन्य घायल हो गए थे।

वहीं, दूसरी तरफ इस मामले में रांची से तीन और गिरफ्तारियां हुई हैं। गिरफ्तार हुए लोगों को इम्तियाज का रिश्तेदार बताया जा रहा है। इम्तियाज पर आरोप है कि उसने ही भाजपा द्वारा आयोजित हुंकार रैली में विस्फोट को अंजाम दिया था। इम्तियाज अभी बिहार पुलिस की गिरफ्त में है।

Patna blasts a conspiracy to kill Narendra Modi, says BJP

Patna/New Delhi: The main opposition party, BJP, on Monday attacked the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar over its failure to avert Sunday's blast in Patna and said that it was a conspiracy to kill its PM candidate Narendra Modi.

Addressing a press conference in Patna, state's former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Sushil Modi said, "I feel Sunday's serial blasts in Patna were a conspiracy to eliminate Gujarat Chief Minister and our PM candidate Narendra Modi."

Sushil Modi even attacked the Nitish Kumar government for ignoring the threats to Modi's life and asked, "Why was an anti-sabotage check not conducted."

"One of the low intensity bombs exploded just 100 metres away from the stage where Modi ji and other senior leaders were present. Imagine what would have happened,"Sushil Modi asked.

Earlier, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley blamed the Bihar government and the state police for completely ignoring the intelligence inputs about Modi's 'Hunkar' rally.
