Will trace 'extraneous influence' during Jayanthi's tenure as Environment Minister: Javadekar

Alleging that the prime minister under the UPA government was powerless, the Environment Minister also accused Congress President Sonia Gandhi of interfering in important decisions during her party's rule at the Centre.

"She (Natarajan) has mentioned certain files and she has not mentioned certain files but she indicated what was happening. But one thing is clear, that the Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh) was in office, but not in power.

"The power was concentrated in 10, Janpath (residence of Sonia Gandhi). So, we will definitely look into the cases mentioned and hinted at, where some extraneous influence has happened. We will see if there is any trace of such extraneous influence," the minister told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

Natarajan had written to Sonia Gandhi alleging that she had received specific requests from her son and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on environmental clearances and, consequently, had rejected big ticket projects.

Javadekar had earlier termed it a "serious issue" and said he would review the files regarding which allegations of extraneous influence have been made.

After Natarajan's charge, NDA may review UPA green clearances

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the outbursts by the former environment minister against the Congress Vice President showed that the UPA government was a practitioner of "sadistic" economy and "crony capitalism".
  
"I hope the Environment ministry now will go into each of these permissions which were granted and not granted and make sure that these are expeditiously dealt with only as per law and no other consideration," Jaitley told reporters.
  
Natarajan's letter to Sonia Gandhi "conclusively establishes" that it was not the statutory or mandatory considerations which weighed with the Congress but only "whims" of the leaders, the Finance Minister charged.

The Finance Minister was reacting to Natarajan's letter to the Congress President alleging that she had received specific requests from Rahul Gandhi on environmental clearances and consequently had rejected big ticket projects.

Delhi Assembly Elections: Polling to be held on February 7, counting on February 10

Addressing a press conference in national capital here, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) V S Sampath said the notifications for the polls will be announced on January 14 while January 21 will be the last date for filing the notifications for the assembly elections.

The CEC said the scrutiny of the papers will be held on January 22 and the last date for withdrawing the nominations will be January 24.

Sampath said as per the latest list, there is 1.30 crore voters in Delhi.

He said altogether 11,763 polling stations will be made for the elections for 70 assembly constituencies
in the national capital.

In last assembly election held in 2013, the BJP had won 31 seats while AAP bagged 28 seats in its debut elections. Congress managed to win only eight seats while others bagged three seats.

Delhiites can now check their names in the voters' list and also know the polling officer of their area through their smartphone with the election office here launching an android app - 'Delhi Election'.

"People can find out their names in electoral roll by downloading 'Delhi Election' aap in their smartphones. Besides, they can also check application status and their constituency through this android app launched recently," said a senior official.

Former CWC member Jagmeet Singh Brar resigns from Congress

Addressing a press conference here, Brar said he was ending his nearly 35-year old relationship with the Congress.
  
"I have tendered my resignation from the primary membership of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) breaking all connection whatsoever with it," he said.
  
The 56-year-old politician has been under suspension since August last year after he gave vent to his feelings following the rout of the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
  
Brar was suspended in August last year after he criticised the party's functioning and suggested that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi should take a break and hand over the party's reins to somebody else.

Rahul Gandhi's campaign made victory easy for BJP: Amit Shah

"It had become easy for BJP to win the seats wherever Rahul had campaigned in the last parliamentary polls. This is also happening in the Assembly elections in Jharkhand," Shah said while addressing an election rally in favour of party candidate Madhav Lal Singh, a sitting MLA at Gomia in Bokaro district.

Congress was concerned about the sea of humanity turning up at all rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he claimed.

"You have ousted the mother-son government at the Centre and now it is the turn of Jharkhand to dismiss the father-son duo and install a full-majority government of BJP," Shah said referring to the Sibu Soren-Hemant Soren regime.

While Congress had committed the coal scam, the Soren-government was indulged in the sand scam, he alleged, assuring the people that BJP would expose them and "punish the culprits".

Congress has been asking for a six-month account of the Narendra Modi government, but they should first give the country an account of their sixty-year rule, Shah said.

उन्होंने कहा कि मुजफ्फरनगर के जिन युवकों के आइएसआइ से रिश्ता है, राहुल उनका नाम सार्वजनिक करें। अगर वह ऐसा नहीं करते हैं तो अपने बयान के लिए माफी मांगें। 

आजम ने कहा कि केंद्र सरकार अगर मुसलमानों की हमदर्द है तो फिर उन्हें आबादी के मुताबिक सरकारी नौकरियों में आरक्षण दे। आजमगढ़ में आयोजित सपा की रैली में आजम ने कहा, 'कांग्रेस के नेता राहुल गांधी न वजीर हैं-न सरकारी अधिकारी, फिर भी कोई आइबी अधिकारी उनके कमरे में कैसे पहुंच गया? अगर यह बात सच है तो आइबी के ऐसे अफसर को गिरफ्तार कर जेल में डालना चाहिए।'

हमीरपुर (उत्तर प्रदेश)। कांग्रेस उपाध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी ने आज उत्तर प्रदेश का सबसे पिछड़ा हिस्सा माने जाने वाले बुंदेलखंड में अपनी रैली की। बुंदेलखंड के हमीरपुर में अपनी रैली में राहुल ने कहा कि बुंदेलखंड को दिल्ली से नहीं, बल्कि पूरी दुनिया से जोड़ने की जरूरत है। उसे अमेरिका से जोड़ने की जरूरत है। अपने भाषण के ज्यादातर हिस्से में उन्होंने अपनी सरकार की उपलब्धियां गिनाई और एनडीए तथा उत्तर प्रदेश की सरकार पर हमला बोला।

राहुल गांधी ने कहा, 'हमने बुंदेलखंड को आठ हजार करोड़ का पैकेज दिलाया था। वो इसलिए दिलाया था ताकि आपको मुंबई या दिल्ली जैसे महानगर न जाना पड़े। आपकी मांगें बहुत छोटी हैं। आपमें कोई कमी नहीं है। यहां ऐसी सरकार दो, जो बुंदेलखंड को बदले।'

राहुल ने कहा कि जितनी सड़कें हमने पिछले पांच साल के दौरान बनाई, एनडीए ने उसकी सिर्फ एक-तिहाई बनाई। इसके अलावा उन्होंने कहा, 'हमने रोजगार योजना दी। लाखों-करोड़ों लोगों को रोजगार दिया। पहले लोग भटकते रहते थे। हमने 100 दिन के रोजगार की गारंटी दी। हमने भ्रष्टाचार से लड़ने के लिए आरटीआई कानून दिया। हम सबसे बड़ा कानून 'भोजन का अधिकार' लेकर आए।'

कांग्रेस उपाध्यक्ष ने बुंदेलखंड के लोगों को कहा कि केंद्र सरकार यहां पैसा भेजती है, लेकिन पैसा यहां तक पहुंचता ही नहीं है। उन्होंने राजस्थान में अशोक गहलोत की सरकार के विकास कार्यो का भी हवाला दिया। साथ ही उन्होंने कहा कि उत्तर प्रदेश भारत का सबसे बड़ा राज्य है। यहां युवाओं की संख्या बहुत अधिक है। अखिलेश यादव पर निशाना साधते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि यहां का मुख्यमंत्री भी युवा है। वो चाहे तो इस प्रदेश का विकास कर सकता है, लेकिन हो नहीं रहा।

नई दिल्ली (New Delhi)। नाबालिग लड़की के साथ रेप के मामले में फंसे आसाराम बापू ने एक बार फिर सभी आरोपों को खारिज करते हुए कहा कि मैडम-बेटे यानी सोनिया गांधी (Sonia Gandhi) और राहुल गांधी (Rahul Gandhi) के इशारे पर ही ये सब हो रहा है। उन्होंने सोनिया गांधी और राहुल पर आरोप लगाते हुए कहा कि उनके इशारे पर ही बापू के खिलाफ साजिश रची जा रही है।

गुरुवार को भोपाल एयरपोर्ट पर संवाददाताओं से बातचीत के दौरान उन्होंने कहा कि उनके बचाव में कोई पार्टी नहीं है। उन्हें किसी के साथ की जरूरत नहीं है। गहलोत सरकार की ओर से उन्हें मिल रहे समर्थन की बात पर भी वे भड़क गए। 

इससे पहले जोधपुर पुलिस ने बापू को चेताया था कि अगर वे 30 अगस्त तक खुद को पुलिस के हवाले नहीं करते हैं तो 31 अगस्त को पुलिस उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लेगी। पुलिस का कहना है कि वो 30 अगस्त तक ही इंतजार करेगी और उसके बाद कोई कदम उठाएगी। हालांकि बापू (Asaram Bapu) ने कह दिया था कि वे 30 अगस्त को पेश नहीं हो पाएंगे।
