Sunanda Pushkar death case: Delhi Police question RLD leader Amar Singh

Sources said that Singh was asked about what Sunanda had told him regarding the IPL controversy and about allegedly taking the blame for Shashi Tharoor.

The former SP leader, who has been maintaining that he was a close friend of the Tharoors, was also asked about the relations between the couple and whether Sunanda had discussed anything about Tharoor's alleged affair with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.

Singh said that he was questioned for two hours by the Special Investigation Team but refused to divulge any details.

"There is no point in hiding the truth more so when there is a matter of gruesome murder being coming to light. That does not mean that I do not wish well for Shashi Tharoor or I am accusing him of any conspiracy. After all he was my dear friend's husband. So questioning of accusing anybody does not arise," he said.

"Whatever I knew about Sunanda, I have told the police and now I will not say anything since the matter has been taken into cognizance by SIT," he added.

Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said that Singh was questioned by the SIT after he had recently told media that he has certain information regarding the case.

Shashi Tharoor 'stunned' that Pushkar was poisoned

In a statement here, Tharoor said, "Needless to say I am anxious to see that this case is investigated thoroughly, and (I) assure the police my full cooperation. "

Although we never thought of any foul play in the death of my wife, we all want that a comprehensive investigation be conducted and the unvarnished truth should come out," he said.

He added that he and all members of Pushkar's family wanted access to all the information on the basis of which Delhi Police had concluded that she was poisoned to death.

"We have not been provided copies of the post-mortem report and other reports of the inquiry like the CFSL report till date. We repeat our request for a copy of these reports to be provided to us immediately," said Tharoor.

Pushkar was found dead in mysterious circumstances in a luxury hotel in New Delhi in January last year. Delhi Police chief B.S. Bassi said Tuesday that she was poisoned to death.

"We have got the final medical report from AIIMS, and we have been told that it was an unnatural death. It was not a natural death," Bassi told the media.


"She died due to poisoning. Whether the poison was given orally or injected into her body is being investigated," he said, adding the report from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences was received on December 29.

Bassi said the quantum of poison given to Pushkar, who was 52, had not yet been ascertained. "For that we will send her viscera abroad. "A murder case had now been registered, the police chief said. A special team has been formed to probe the case. This will be overseen by Deputy Commissioner of Police Prem Nath.


Asked why it took almost a year for the final medical report to come, Bassi said the interim report spoke of poisoning but did not say it was an unnatural death. "Even overdose (of medicines) can be poisoning.”

When asked if Tharoor, a former central minister and now a Congress MP from Kerala, would be questioned again, he said, "We will do whatever is possible." 

Bassi said Delhi Police had sought the final medical report from AIIMS several times. "Now that we have got it, we are registering a FIR.”

Delhi: police rescue 13-year-old abused maid

नई दिल्ली, जागरण संवाददाता। नेताजी नगर में एक एयर होस्टेस द्वारा नाबालिग घरेलू सहायिका को बेल्ट से पीटने और घर में कैद रखने का मामला सामने आया है। पुलिस ने आरोपी बीरा थोईबी के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज कर लिया। एयर होस्टेस के ऑस्ट्रेलिया में होने की वजह से उसे गिरफ्तार नहीं किया जा सका।

गत रविवार बीरा मुख्य दरवाजे और छत को जाने वाली सीढि़यों के दरवाजे पर ताला जड़ कर एयर इंडिया की फ्लाइट से ऑस्ट्रेलिया चली गई। वह बुधवार को लौटेगी। पीड़ित 13 वर्षीय किशोरी दो दिन से घर के अंदर कैद थी। 

सोमवार शाम वह किसी तरह सीढ़ी के दरवाजे का ताला तोड़कर बाहर आई और पास में रहने वाले एक व्यक्ति को आपबीती सुनाई। सूचना पाकर मौके पर पहुंची पुलिस किशोरी को अस्पताल ले गई। चिकित्सकीय परीक्षण में उसके शरीर पर मारपीट करने के कुछ पुराने निशान मिले।

पुलिस ने पीड़िता को लाजपत नगर स्थित चाइल्ड वेलफेयर कमेटी के समक्ष पेश किया। बुधवार को मजिस्ट्रेट के समक्ष बयान दर्ज कराया जाएगा। पुलिस के मुताबिक बीरा व किशोरी दोनों मणिपुर की हैं। दोनों के परिजन एक-दूसरे को जानते हैं।

Delhi Faces Terror Threat; LeT Attack Feared

नई दिल्ली [जासं]। राजधानी को आतंकी हमले से बचाने के लिए दिल्ली पुलिस ने पूरी ताकत झोंक दी है। सूत्रों की मानें तो सुरक्षा व्यवस्था के लिहाज से आगामी दो दिन खासे अहम हैं।

मंगलवार को पुलिस आयुक्त बीएस बस्सी ने पुलिस मुख्यालय में आला अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक करने के बाद शाह ऑडिटोरियम में राजधानी के सभी एसएचओ की बैठक बुलाई।

पुलिस आयुक्त ने एसएचओ को स्पष्ट निर्देश दिए कि अपने अपने इलाकों में आने वाले मेट्रो व रेलवे स्टेशन, बस अड्डा, मॉल तथा प्रमुख बाजारों में स्वयं जाकर सुरक्षा बंदोबस्त का जायजा लें। इंस्पेक्टर एटीओ [एंटी टेरेरिस्ट ऑपरेशंस] को भी इलाके में जाकर दुकानदारों से संपर्क स्थापित करने तथा आम नागरिकों को जागरुक करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। एक वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी के अनुसार आइबी से स्वतंत्रता दिवस एवं गणतंत्र दिवस पर इनपुट तो पहले भी आते रहे हैं, लेकिन इस बार स्थितियां हर बार से अलग हैं। कई मॉड्यूल पकड़े जाने से इंडियन मुजाहिदीन कमजोर हो रहा है। भारत में उसकी कमान संभालने वाली यासीन भटकल तथा पाकिस्तान में बैठे उसके संस्थापक इकबाल व रियाज भटकल बंधु इससे तिलमिलाए हुए हैं।

खुफिया एजेंसियों को अंदेशा है कि लश्कर-ए-तैयबा के इशारे पर इंडियन मुजाहिदीन किसी बड़े आतंकी हमले को अंजाम दे सकता है। हाल में हुआ बोधगया विस्फोट के अभी तक सुलझ ना पाने से भी एजेंसियां चिंतित हैं। विस्फोट करने वाले आतंकी अभी किस शहर में हैं तथा क्या मंसूबे बना रहे हैं यह भी अभी तक स्पष्ट नहीं हो पाया है। इससे भी खतरा बना हुआ है। पुलिस मुख्यालय में आयोजित आला अधिकारियों की बैठक में पुलिस आयुक्त बस्सी ने निर्देश दिए कि किसी स्तर पर कोई चूक न हो यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अधिकारी खुद मौके पर जाएं। मातहतों को उचित दिशा निर्देश देकर राजधानी की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था फुल प्रूफ करने की कोशिश करें।

इसके अलावा उन्होंने एसएचओ को भी कहा है कि भीड़भाड़ वाले स्थानों पर संदिग्ध व्यक्ति अथवा वस्तु की सूचना में स्थानीय लोगों को मदद के लिए जागरुक करें। बाजारों में बम निरोधक दस्ते व डॉग स्क्वायड की मदद से सघन तलाशी अभियान चलाएं। सुरक्षा में रेहड़ी, पटरी वाले, पान विक्रेता,आटो एवं टैक्सी चालकों को भी जागरुक करें। सुरक्षा के लिहाज से 14 अगस्त दोपहर 2 बजे से सभी मेट्रो स्टेशनों पर पार्किंग बंद करने की घोषणा पुलिस पहले ही कर चुकी है। वहीं बृहस्पतिवार को लालकिले पर आयोजित स्वतंत्रता दिवस समारोह की सुरक्षा के लिए पुलिस ने खास इंतजाम किए हैं। पुलिस कमांडो दस्ता व अर्धसैनिक बलों के अलावा एनएसजी दस्ता भी किसी भी आपात स्थिति से निपटने के लिए तैनात रहेगा। पूरे समारोह स्थल पर सीसीटीवी कैमरों की निगरानी के साथ आस पास की इमारतों पर अत्याधुनिक हथियारों से लैस कमांडो तैनात रहेंगे। आइबी व रॉ समेत दिल्ली पुलिस के खुफिया तंत्र ने लाल किला तथा उसके आसपास के इलाके में आज से ही मोर्चा संभाल लिया है। यहां तक कि लालकिले के पीछे की तरफ यमुना खादर में भी पुलिस टीमें गश्त करेंगी।

Delhi on High Alert Before Independence Day

नई दिल्ली। स्वतंत्रता दिवस से पहले पूरी दिल्ली में सुरक्षाकर्मियों को तैनात कर दिया गया है। कई रास्ते बदल दिए गए हैं, जगह-जगह पुलिस ने बैरियर भी लगा दिए हैं। यह सारा ताम झाम खुफिया एजेंसी द्वारा जारी हाई अलर्ट के बाद किया गया है। यदि आपकी गाड़ी को बार-बार रोका जाए तो आप परेशान न हों। अतिरिक्त कमीश्नर ऑफ पुलिस (ट्रैफिक) अनिल शुक्ला ने कहा कि पड़ोसी राज्यों से दिल्ली में आने वाले सभी निजी और वाणिज्यिक वाहनों की स्पेशल चैकिंग की जा रही है।

मेट्रो से घर पहुंचाने का अब होगा पूरा इंतजाम

इसके अलावा, लाल किला के आसपास सादी वर्दी में दिल्ली पुलिस के लोग, कमांडो, सुरक्षा अधिकारी और बंदूकधारियोंको भी तैनात किया गया है। लाल किला और उसके आसपास के इलाकों में करीब 80 सुरक्षा कंपनियों यानी 6,000 लोगों को तैनात किया गया है। अधिकारी ने कहा कि बंदूकधारियों की एक टुकड़ी, नेशनल सिक्योरिटी गार्ड (एनएसजी) कमांडो के अलावा दिल्ली पुलिस के लोगों को यहां सुरक्षा व्यवस्था में लगाया गया है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि शहर के अलग-अलग हिस्सों और शहर में आने जाने वाली सभी जगहों पर पुलिस की कड़ी सुरक्षा का इंतजाम किया गया है। आज सुबह कई लोगों को रास्ता बदलने और जगह-जगह बैरियर लगने की वजह से परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ा है।
